Industrial wastewater has various characteristics depending on the source. Therefore, it is necessary to consider wastewater characteristics and site conditions before designing appropriate solutions. Tomorrow Water provides various solutions for treatment and resource recovery for wastewater containing high concentration of organic matter and nitrogen.

HIGH ORGANIC WASTEWATER

Using organic wastes as a resource, efficient processes can be designed to produce methane as a renewable energy. When the anaerobic digester is used for the methane production, the efficiency depends on the characteristics of the organic matter. TW can provide a process that increases the efficiency of the anaerobic digester while economically processing the digestate.

 
 
 
 
 

HIGH STRENGTH ORGANIC/NITROGEN WASTEWATER

When treating wastewater containing a high concentration of organic matter and nitrogen, the process composition depends on the purpose for processing and recovering resources. TW provides an appropriate solution after considering the position of the customer and the site conditions.

 
 
 
 

HIGH STRENGTH NITROGEN WASTEWATER

When treating wastewater containing a high concentration of nitrogen, the process composition is different according to the oxidation state of nitrogen.

1. Ammonium Nitrogen

When treating ammonium nitrogen, a highly concentrated nitrogen in the reduced state, it is advantageous to perform nitritation and anammox process to minimize the consumption of oxygen and external carbon sources. Because ammonium nitrogen is also a useful resource, it can be used to treat wastewater and waste gas (NOx) through recovery.

2. Nitrite Nitrogen

In rare cases, industrial wastewater may contain high concentrations of nitrite. The wastewater containing nitrite can be treated either by conventional nitrogen removal processes involving external carbon source or the Anammox process. Securing inexpensive electron donors are essential since both processes require electron donors. 

3. Nitrate Nitrogen

Some industrial wastewaters contain high concentrations of nitrate. The wastewater containing nitrite can be treated either by conventional nitrogen removal processes involving external carbon source or the Anammox process. Securing inexpensive electron donors are essential since both processes require electron donors.

  • Reduce water content to below 40%

  • Recover energy & heat sources through production of RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel)

  • Operate at higher temperature and pressure settings than used for AD pretreatment applications
