Since the social and economic environment of each country in which the company is founded is different, the United Nations agencies and advisory bodies in these countries are to select model companies and institutions based on 17 SDG goals. At the "UN launch ceremony for SDGs in Seoul," held on August 26, 2015 in Seoul, Korea, CEOs and executives of major global companies declared their participation in the SDGBI and signed an agreement.
Companies included in the index can participate in UN SDGs activities, as well as submit official statements to high-level meetings of the Economic and Social Council. In addition, companies include in the index can participate in the United Nations partnership platform activities and global initiatives, consult with governments on sustainable development policies, and use the official logo of the SDG Business Index.
